(Acrylic on canvas 10x8)
In the floral series I’ve decided to name each painting after a woman who has been a dear friend and ally to me over the last year or more. My circle of friends has radically changed in the most delightful way and each of these women feel like a precious flower in my life…
This painting is an ode to the wild feminine.
Iris flowers grew at the steps of my back porch in the home I grew up in, in a sleepy town El Paso, Illinois. I remember them being just about the same height as I was and completely captured by these unusual flowers. I would examine them for the longest time trying to figure out where they came from. To me this was the most otherworldly flower that I had ever seen.
Bridget is multidimensional yet totally present in her body and her in life. I love talking to her because the depth of her presence is an absolute gift. To walk with both otherworldly wisdom and reverence for her human experience is what I immediately fell in love with about her. I always feel inspired to be more fully a woman and live my life with even more purpose every time we get together. I also feel totally seen as a mother when I am with her and always encouraged to keep deepening into motherhood and my own wildness… to feel this with a friend who has no children of her own at this time is rare and precious to me. Bridget is on YouTube and here is a glimpse of what she’s up to: https://linktr.ee/bridgetnielsen
