In the floral series I’ve decided to name each painting after a woman who has been a dear friend and ally to me over the last year or more. My circle of friends has radically changed in the most delightful way and each of these women feel like a precious flower in my life…
This painting came through me in a moment of feeling homesick. I was longing for my old garden where I always planted a large patch of Zinnias in front of the sunflowers. It was the most magical part or my garden and created beautiful bouquets to bring inside all summer long. It was a place for insects to make their home and create the singing buzz of a humid Missouri garden.
Lorie is my friend that feels like home. No matter how long it has been since I have last seen her or spoken to her we can drop into the present moment together so deeply and intimately it doesn’t make sense. She is a long lost sister to me that always feels like family, like home. It’s such a rare and special thing to find those women in your life that both inspire you but are right along side you when you need a good friend. I’m eternally grateful for Lorie and how held I have always felt by her. Find her work at lorieladd.com
